Let us start by talking about the impotance of this game. A win and Wolves are 2 points behind Blues. A Blues win and Wolves are 8 points behind Blues. With Carson Yeung ready to invest millions into Blues losing was not an option. Both teams came up last season and both teams have spent about 18 million on players. Blues have an older side of 'has beens' and Wolves by choice have a young side.

At Kick off there was great expectations for Wolves but the team selection was strange. Blues started brightly and some poor defending saw Bowyer score from 20 yards to put Blues infront. Why Why did Wolves not learn the lessons from Chelsea not to leave players unmarked outside the box. Blues had all the chances with Bowyer, Jerome and Larsson coming close. It was not until the 48th minute that Wolves had a shot on goal from Ebanks-Blake. There was minor improvement in the second half but this could not stop a 9 match run without a win.

Mick had publicaly said that the Arsenal and Chelsea matches were of no importance. 'I am saving my players for the games we should win'. Well we have just lost the first. So where do Wolves go from here. Well the most disturbing fact is that Mick McCarty has put together a good chamionship team and in 50 Premiership matches, including those at Sunderland, he has only won 4 of them. He isn't going to improve on this dismal stat, so is he the right manager to keep us in the Premiership?
