Report :

There was more than a packed house at Molineux today; it was overflowing into the new wotsit stand to accommodate all those extra fans that want to watch Premier League football only.

Earlier on in the week I was quite optimistic about our chances for this game, but having watched Carlton Cole play for England and then see loads of our players getting injuries, I became a little concerned and thought we would get a draw. As it happened we competed well, but sloppy defending let WHU score 2 goals and win the match comfortably. For the first, we let Noble have a couple of yards of space on the edge of the box, and that was enough for him to give Hennessey no chance with his shot. The second was conceded direct from a corner, where Hennessey should really have come off his line and claimed it. Even before that, Stearman who came on for Mancienne, gave a corner away, when he should really have put the ball out much earlier and given away just a throw-in instead.

We did have some chances - Keogh’s air kick and SEB’s header in the 1st half; and SEB’s 1-on-1 with Green as well as several shots from Milijas – but the timing of their goals was crucial. As they said on MOTD you have to take your chances when you are on top and in this league getting the 1st goal is so important.

WHU also had 2 chances cleared off the line in either half, firstly by Craddock and then by Foley. In the end we only had 10 players on the pitch as SEB also got injured; Jarvis was also rubbing himself where he perhaps shouldn’t be - now that the world via SKY and ESPN are watching!

There were 5 teams that all lost 2-0 today and then there was Everton who got hammered at home by Arsenal 1-6 – we could easily have been placed 16th in the league (a position I’ll settle for come the end of the season). But no, everybody has placed the 2-0 losers in alphabetical order and that means that we are currently 2nd bottom!

There’s a long way to go yet, and in my opinion, we need to pick up at least 4 points per calendar month to stay up. This is something that we must achieve, and with Kightly, Doyle, Iwelumo and possibly a couple of others all still to feature, I think we can stay up. Keep the faith!
